DR. PATRICK CAULFIELD
Dr. Patrick Caulfield was born and raised in Naperville, IL and attended Northern Illinois University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in kinesiology with a minor in dietetics. While at NIU, Dr. Caulfield received his American College of Sports Medicine personal trainer certification and was employed as the head trainer for the NIU Recreation Center. Additionally, he was a member of NIU’s rugby team, serving as president and captain for his junior and senior year.
As a result of positive and negative experiences with health professionals, Dr. Caulfield felt inspired to pursue a chiropractic education, and graduated from National University of Health Sciences with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. While at NUHS, Dr. Caulfield was an active member of the Motion Palpation Institute club and focused his continued education on treatment for athletic injuries, movement efficiency, and athletic performance.
Among Dr. Caulfield’s skills and focuses, he is especially proficient in: sports rehab, athletic performance training, myofascial release, dynamic neuromuscular stabilization (DNS), kinesiology taping, and instrument assisted soft tissue therapy.
In his free time, Dr. Caulfield is Backline Coach for the Women's Premier League rugby team, Chicago North Shore, Head Coach for the Naperville Warriors high school rugby club, and is a coach for Eagle Impact Rugby Academy (EIRA), the largest high school select side program in the United States.
Dr. Caulfield is co-owner of Invictus Health + Recovery with his wife, Dr. Melissa Caulfield.
DR. MELISSA CAULFIELD
Dr. Melissa Caulfield was born and raised in Chicago and is a proud graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Kinesiology and Human Nutrition program. While at UIC, she was actively affiliated with the Human Performance Lab, administrating and evaluating tests for athletes and fitness enthusiasts. Additionally, Dr. Melissa served as a swim instructor, personal trainer, and team-building coordinator at UIC’s Campus Recreation.
During her undergraduate education, Dr. Melissa was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Through her hardship, she embraced a lifestyle of clean eating, exercise, and self-care. She is currently six years in remission.
After graduation, Dr. Melissa pursued her lifelong goal of becoming a chiropractic physician and graduated from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois. At NUHS, Dr. Melissa was a student representative for the Motion Palpation Institute and obtained extensive training in various techniques to provide her patients with the utmost quality of care.
Among Dr. Melissa’s skills and focuses, she is especially proficient in: myofascial release, pelvic floor restoration, pre- and post-partum rehabilitation, dynamic neuromuscular stabilization (DNS), kinesiology taping, and FAKTR (instrument assisted soft tissue therapy).
In her free time, you can catch Dr. Melissa reading various health/fitness texts, sweating at the local CrossFit gym, or cheering on the Naperville Warriors High School Rugby Club.
Dr. Melissa is co-owner of Invictus Health + Recovery with her husband, Dr. Patrick Caulfield.

Brad Sulkowski grew up in Naperville and attended college at Northern Illinois University where he completed his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology: Exercise Science with a minor in nutrition. After NIU, he received his NASM Personal Trainer Certification and has been working in the field since 2013.
Through his years of experience and continued education, Brad continues to grow more passionate about helping people achieve long term success. Utilizing his skills and knowledge base, Brad’s major focus is improving quality of movement in the general, active population. He achieves this primarily by combining strength, mobility, and stability programming with movement patterns from the Ground Force Method.
In his free time, Brad embraces an active lifestyle which includes many outdoor activities, healthy eating, and exercise that strengthens the mind with the body.
We were inspired to select Invictus as our company name by William Ernest Henley’s poem, Invictus. Henley wrote this poem in 1875 while recovering from tuberculosis, narrowly avoiding a second leg amputation. Meaning “unconquerable” or “undefeated”, Invictus encompasses our belief that pain should not be in control of someone’s life. Our goal is to instill that same belief in all of our patients. As long as full health is being pursued, one has not been conquered or defeated.
